Organization Showcase: Small Projects-Big Results
The best part about organizing projects is seeing the dramatic change from cluttered to calm. It's a powerful reminder that you don't need a complete overhaul to get started. You can transform even the most chaotic spaces with a little effort. Here are two common culprits—the closet and the garage. Take a look at how a few simple storage solutions and decluttering ideas can make a world of difference.
Closet Organization: Before & After
You don't need a huge budget to feel the benefits of a well-organized closet. A simple closet decluttering session can make a huge difference. By clearing out clothes that no longer fit or items you rarely use, you make room for the items you actually need. As these closet organization before and after photos show, even small changes can transform how you feel and how much time you save looking for items like Baby Yoda. I knew he was in there somewhere!
Closet organization is important, no matter the size. The key is to be intentional with every item and use the space wisely, including the floor. This teen’s closet wasn’t overflowing, but he couldn’t see what was at the bottom because he kept piling things on top of each other. We used the top shelf (not pictured) for storing unused items, and placed luggage and larger items on the floor.
Garage Organization: Before & After
The garage is often a catch-all for clutter and chaos. But with a little effort, it can become a functional extension of your home. These garage organization before and after shots show how you can transform your space from a mess into a clean, functional area. Now, how do I get my husband to clean out all FOUR of his tool bags?!
Storage solutions like wall hooks for tools, a shelving unit for shoes, and designated zones for different types of equipment are essential. Luckily, many of these were already in place in this garage, but it doesn’t take long to hang shelves and wall hooks if yours doesn’t have them. Again, they don’t have to be picture-perfect or expensive, just functional. Pro-tip: Don’t tackle this kind of project in the middle of the summer like I did. What should have taken about two hours took twice as long because of the heat!
